İzmir is a metropolitan city in the western extremity of Anatolia and the third most populous city in Turkey, after Istanbul and Ankara.
As big city Izmir providing a lot of possibilities to live here. Students, EVS volunteers, Erasmus and just new people in Izmir are living in flats and apartments, university dorms, studios and rooms for rent. Temporary staying of course can be in hotels, hostels or to some very hospitable Turkish people who are Your friends or You found through couchsurfing.
But if You’re coming to PI YOUTH ASOCIATION as EVS volunteer or want to do Your internship here, Pi gonna take care of Your accommodation.
By the standards of EU EVS people can live in rented apartment alone or other volunteers (EVS or local from organization). Also sometimes volunteers are living in local families. In EVS we are becoming more tolerant by sharing accommodation with an international group of volunteers.
So as You probably understood, the volunteers can be accommodated in different living places. Sometimes they might have to share a house, an apartment or you might live alone. In case of sharing accommodation, it’s recommended to set clear rules regarding the common living space (cleaning, not making too much noise etc.). Sharing accommodation can sometimes be difficult especially for the ones that never did it before. Nevertheless it is a new experience that might train the tolerance, communication and even conflict resolution skills.
